Frequently Asked Questions

  • You can begin training your puppy the day they come home with their food or perhaps a toy. More formal training is usually recommended for dogs aged 6 months and above as at that age they are mature enough to be expected to follow commands and hold possitions.

  • Most clients complete the behavioural reset program in 3-4 weeks and the off leash training program in around 6-8 weeks.

It is important to remember though that training with your dog never truly ends and is a commitment you have with them for their whole lives.

  • Fundamentally effective dog training is about making the dog learn that good choices makes good things happen and making bad choices makes bad things happen so we utilise tools and techniques to achieve both of those outcomes.

The tools and techniques we use will vary from dog to dog but suffice to say we will help teach you how to reward your dog’s good behaviours and correct bad ones.

  • We do not as all our training is delivered through private programmes, allowing us to tailor the process to each dog and household.

  • Yes absolutely! Here at R&M we specialise in behavioural cases so a lot of the dogs we see are aggressive or reactive. It is for this reason we have the Behavioural Reset Program to help address these behaviours before working on actually training the dog.

If you have an aggressive or reactive dog don’t hesitate to book an assessment with us and we can look at getting you onto the Behavioural Reset Program to address your dog’s bad behaviours.

  • A majority of the real world success we see in our clients comes from their commitment and consistency to holding not just their dog accountable but themselves too.

Our programmes are designed to give owners the best possible tools and techniques to achieve the real world success they are looking for, but at the end of the day it is them that must put in the work to achieve those results.

  • The sessions you will have with us through our programmes will occur in a mixture between your home and local environment.

This is to ensure that the owner has plenty of opportunities to work trough their dog’s problematic behaviours and test their dog’s obedience within the context of real world distractions they see everyday.

  • All training begins with a 90-minute behavioural and training assessment, where we evaluate your dog and recommend the most effective programme.
